You can take a university entrance qualification examination to qualify for entrance on to a Bachelor’s degree programme.
The university entrance qualification examination
You can take the university entrance qualification examination to gain admission to a particular discipline at the University of Klagenfurt. The examinations to be taken depend on the degree programme you are interested in studying in the future.

Requirements
You can be admitted if you fulfil the following requirements:
- you are at least 20 years of age
- you are a citizen of an EEA member state (and persons in accordance with the Austrian Regulation on Eligible Groups of Persons)
- you have successfully “completed vocational or non-vocational training over and above compulsory education in your desired degree programme” (Universities Act 2002 Section 64a, Para. 3)
- you have not previously received a “fail mark” in the university entrance qualification examination for your desired degree programme

To be formally accepted for the university entrance qualification examination, you must take the following steps:
- Find out more about our degree programmes offered on the University of Klagenfurt degree programmes page and choose your future programme.
- Register for the university entrance qualification examination
(After registration, please use the link Registration for the university entrance qualification examination for further logins) - Plan your application by entering the data requested in the system and uploading the required documents as individual files.
- When all documents have been uploaded (don’t forget the reverse side), make an appointment with the University Entrance Qualification Examination Office by e-mailing sbp [at] aau [dot] at.
- At a follow-up appointment with the University Entrance Qualification Examination Office, the uploaded documents will be formally checked.
Please be sure to bring the original documents and your eCard with you. - After activation by the University Entrance Qualification Examination Office, submit your application for admission online.

Examinations
The subjects covered in the university entrance qualification examination depend on your desired degree programme. They are a set component of the admissions process and are recorded on your acceptance letter. The required examinations can be taken upon being accepted for the exam.
The university entrance qualification examination consists of the following five examinations:
- a piece of written work on a general topic (essay)
- two or three examinations that assess prior knowledge or skills relating to subjects covered in the desired discipline (compulsory subjects)
- one or two examinations on introductory courses (lectures) for the desired degree programme

Preparing for the university entrance qualification examination
The University Entrance Qualification Examination Preparation Course offers you the opportunity to take the compulsory and elective subjects for the university entrance qualification examination listed in your acceptance letter by attending classes and lectures.
Registration
If you have received an acceptance letter, you can register for the course at the University Entrance Qualification Examination Office during the matriculation and enrolment period.

regarding: ADMISSION
You will not be able to continue your studies automatically upon paying the EUR 600.00 semester fee.
You have to submit the payment receipt for each semester, as well as the student union fee, to Ms. Becker at the University Entrance Qualification Examination Office. At this point, you will be admitted / registered on your course.
