BBMRI.at aims to establish a state-of-the-art biobanking infrastructure in Austria and to increase close cooperation and harmonization between biobanks.
These are prerequisites to facilitating access and fostering the use of biological samples and data for academic and industrial research. Biologic samples and data collected in biobanks are valuable resources for innovations in personalized medicine, and development of biomarkers, diagnostics and therapeutics.
The objectives of WP2 for BBMRI.at #2 (funding period 2018-2023) can be summarized as follows:
• Continuation and extension of the BBMRI.at Biobank Catalogue and/or transfer of data to the BBMRI-ERIC Directory
• Distributed search for biomaterials and related data over multiple biobanks (Sample Locator)
• Identification and application of quality aspects for biobanks regarding biomaterial, data and processes
• Infrastructure for donation management and donor involvement (Biobank Portal)
