About the Play
The darkly comic political farce by the Australian playwright Stephen Carleton imagines a world like ours but “with the dial turned up”. The last snow on Kilimanjaro is melting, rising sea levels flood Melbourne’s sewage system but the three women of the deeply privileged and deep-pocketed Maquarie family watch the environmental cataclysm taking place outside safely from behind triple-glazing. One of them has brought opera glasses.
