Description: Language (especially foreign language) pedagogy plays a central role at the University of Klagenfurt (AAU), which is located in the heart of the Alps-Adriatic region – a region characterized by its rich diversity of languages and cultures. This unique geographical location offers ideal conditions for the promotion of multilingualism and intercultural understanding, making the University of Klagenfurt an important center for research and teaching in (foreign) language pedagogy.
The (foreign) language educators at AAU not only contribute significantly to the preservation and further development of these resources, but are also responsible for training the next generation of language teachers. In doing so, it is important to think beyond national and regional boundaries and to purposefully leverage the potential of cross-border cooperation throughout the Alps-Adriatic region.

The first colloquium on (foreign) language pedagogy at AAU pursues two central goals:
First, it aims to build and strengthen a network of (foreign) language educators within AAU. This network promotes the exchange of innovative teaching and learning methods, supports joint research projects, and contributes to the development of early-career researchers.

Second, the colloquium marks the beginning of a systematic network with colleagues across the Alps-Adriatic region. A long-term goal is to establish a regular colloquium platform at the University of Klagenfurt to intensify exchange and collaboration with universities like those in Ljubljana, Rijeka,
Venice, and Padua.

By building, strengthening, and consolidating these networks of (foreign) language educators, the  first colloquium aims to improve access to the linguistic and cultural resources of the Alps-Adriatic region and to sustainably strengthen them through academic education at AAU.
