VeranstaltungsortZ.1.09Veranstalter Institut für KulturanalyseBeschreibungLjubljana will be an ideal and environmentally friendly city as well as a little cosmopolitan metropolis – such a future is envisioned in the City of Ljubljana’s strategy until 2025 which “should stimulate the creation of a self-image of the city that shows what the city means to its residents and what their expectations about its future are.” However, the residents’ expectations are sometimes not fulfilled, and while some remain passive, others engage in creating alternative urban futures which satisfy their needs or (professional) ambitions. The presentation will build on case-studies from Ljubljana to discuss imagined urban future(s) and their implications on urban life. Motivated by two applications, image processing for cancer discrimination and methane emissions modelling we will explain the necessary techniques for statistical learning on chaotical and stochastic parts from data. In particular, Tsallis Entropy will be introduced and its role in information theory for dynamical system explained. Iterated function systems will be used as an example for chaos re-simulation. Construction of stochastic fractals will be discussed.
