Backward Stochastic Differential Equations beyond Lipschitz Data

VeranstaltungsortN.0.07Veranstalter Institut für StatistikBeschreibungThe talk starts with a basic introduction to backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs), then presents various applications of these equations in PDE theory, control theory, stochastics on manifolds and mathematical finance. Directly following will be an overview of the BSDEs' mathematical treatment with special focus on the very relevant case where the equations' data is irregular: data that satisfy a Lipschitz assumption lead to a well-behaved theory and many results are available. Imagined urban future(s)

VeranstaltungsortZ.1.09Veranstalter Institut für KulturanalyseBeschreibungLjubljana will be an ideal and environmentally friendly city as well as a little cosmopolitan metropolis – such a future is envisioned in the City of Ljubljana’s strategy until 2025 which “should stimulate the creation of a self-image of the city that shows what the city means to its residents and what their expectations about its future are.” However, the residents’ expectations are sometimes not fulfilled, and while some remain passive, others engage in creating alternative urban futures which satisfy their needs or (professional) ambitions. The presentation will build on case-studies from Ljubljana to discuss imagined urban future(s) and their implications on urban life.
