For the third time: “The University gets cycling”!

Since 20 March 2024, students and staff of the University of Klagenfurt have been getting back on their bikes as part of the “The University gets cycling” initiative to replace as many car kilometres as possible with bike kilometres. Until 30 September 2024, kilometres can be collected via the “Kärnten radelt” platform – and participants have the chance to win a great prize!

There are many good reasons to pedal in spring, summer and autumn: it promotes health and fitness, is good for the climate and your wallet and, last but not least, it’s fun in the fresh air. This year, the university is offering a further incentive with an attractive prize: the person who cycles the most kilometres will receive a voucher from Mountainbiker, Klagenfurt, worth 150 euros! Information about “The University gets cycling” and how to take part can be found on the initiative’s website.

The initiative is being held by the University of Klagenfurt for the third time – and students and employees have already achieved a lot together over the past two years: in 2022, the participants cycled a total of around 54,000 kilometres, ensuring that 54 new trees (1 tree for every 1,000 kilometres cycled) were planted as part of the university’s “Double the Good” campaign. Last year, 35,673 kilometres were cycled and there were various challenges, for which the winners received prizes.

We are happy about every kilometre cycled! So leave your car at home and get on your bike!
