MA International Management: Short Time Study Abroad in SEE/CEE (604.630, 604.631, 25S)
In the summer semester, students in the Master’s program in International Management (course: Short Time Study Abroad in SEE/CEE, 604.630/604.631, 25S) had the opportunity to gain exciting impressions of Southeast Europe during a one-week excursion. The destinations of the trip were the cities of Zadar, Nin, Split, and Zagreb – places that not only impress culturally, but also have a lot to offer economically and academically.
Visits to our long-standing partner universities – the University of Zadar, the University of Split, and the University of Zagreb – were a central part of the program. In presentations and discussions, the participants were given in-depth insights into current projects, the strategic development of the universities, and their role in the region. Special focal points included a VR-supported city tour, the new EU regulation on ESG rating regulation, and the influence of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on consumer decisions.
Practical orientation also played a role during the company visits. The students got to know different business models and sectors and gained insights into the structures, goals, and challenges of the respective companies. The visits to the traditional salt works, Solana Nin, and the sustainability-oriented family business, Stella Croatica, were particularly impressive. Another highlight was the visit to the international retail company Kaufland Hrvatska k.d. The students gained exciting insights into topics such as seasonal product differentiation, internal synergies, departments, and the IT systems used.
The excursion was rounded off with cultural program points, including visits to the Krka National Park, the Klis Fortress, and guided city tours. These impressions gave the students a deeper understanding of the regional history and identity.
We are very grateful to our partners and all the companies involved for their commitment and the varied insights they provided.
