Achieving wireless communication between devices

Udo Schilcher, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Networked and Embedded Systems, recently completed his post-doctoral university teaching qualification (habilitation) in Information and Communications Engineering. His research centres on improving communication between individual devices without connecting them via cables. There are potential applications in all wireless networks, from mobile phone networks to sensor networks in industrial plants and robot swarms.

A talk for everyone: “Exploring Earth’s Moon: From Humans and Robots” by Roland Brockers

Roland Brockers has been the Endowed Professor for Modular Robot Systems at the Department of Smart Systems Technologies at the University of Klagenfurt since March 2022. He also works at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory / California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California. On Tuesday, 28 May 2024, as part of his teaching residency at the university, he held another talk for the interested public, this time on the topic of “Exploring Earth’s Moon: From Humans and Robots”.

Mini-helicopters in greenhouses: Research project awarded with recognition award for Houska Prize 2024

Greenhouses are currently not up to date with the latest technology. In order to increase food production there, mini-helicopters could be used in the future.  Their task will be to record the condition of the plants 24 hours a day, without GPS and without human assistance.  A team of researchers at the University of Klagenfurt is developing the technological foundations for deploying these “flying helpers”. Their project has been nominated for the Houska Prize 2024.
