BE FIRST! MENTORING PROGRAMME
Your path to university
BeFirst! aims to support people who are the first in their family to study. We will help you with the choice of study programme, university registration, and all other topics related to studying. Mentors who are studying at our university themselves will introduce you to the academic learning culture and guide you through everything related to it, such as creating a timetable, registering for exams, or applying for a scholarship. If this sparks your interest, sign up now!
Are you the first person in your family hoping to study and do you have questions about studying, organising your studies, exams, everyday student life, etc.?
The BeFirst! team would like to accompany you along your way. Our team of mentors consists of experienced students from the University of Klagenfurt covering different fields of study. We know all about studying and support you with your individual concerns:
- Choice of study programme
- Organising your studies
- Funding and scholarships
- Networking with other students
- Tips and tricks for a successful time at university
- and much more.
To help you with your studies, your learning success, or writing your thesis, we provide other services in addition to individual mentoring:
- Separate BeFirst! courses (for all students who are already enrolled in the programme)
- Scientific writing support
- Workshops on various topics
The course (LV) “BeFirst! Writing Workshop and Coaching for First Generation Students” is specially designed for BeFirst! mentees. Thus, you will be accompanied by us in the first semester.
The goal is for you to settle in well at the university and to feel supported in the best possible way as you start your studies. The course is designed to connect you with other students and to help you overcome the hurdles of scientific work. This is a space for your questions and for individual work, regardless of your field of study.
You will receive 2 ECTS points for the completed BeFirst! course and can have them credited to your open electives.
Are you interested? Register via the course list in the campus portal.
