Computational Linguistics
Profile
The research group for Computational Linguistics within the Digital Age Research Center focuses on the automated processing of natural language. Computational linguistics is an interdisciplinary research field within artificial intelligence that combines methods from both linguistics and computer science. The main research areas of our group are abusive language detection (hate-speech detection), sentiment analysis, information extraction and lexical semantics. We apply data-driven methods exploiting linguistic information hidden in textual corpora using machine learning. The research group at the University of Klagenfurt also covers the area of Digital Humanities. Here, our aim is to provide methods and tools from natural language processing to the disciplines of the humanities.
