Since January 2024, anyone studying or working at the University of Klagenfurt who would like to eat in the Mensa canteen can benefit from a special discount of 1.50 euros for hot lunches and hot snacks in the Mensa canteen or the Mensa café in the Aula. To take advantage of the special discount, you must be registered as a student or employee of the university. Additionally, students can also take advantage of the ÖH discount of one euro, saving a total of 2.50 euros!
If you would like to take advantage of the new Mensa discount, you should register at the Mensa checkout at the next opportunity or, if you are already a member of the Mensa Club, you should assign yourself to the “University students” or “University staff” group in the checkout system. This requires the AAU employee or student card and, if applicable, the previously registered ATM card or the club card on the smartphone. As a student, you may also be eligible for the ÖH discount: further information on the ÖH bonus can be found on this information page. And an extra treat for students: from 1 p.m. there is an additional 20 per cent discount in the Mensa canteen!
As a Mensa Club member, you can take advantage of further discounts: Firstly, the frequency bonus (5 to 20 per cent discount), depending on the number of meals consumed per week; this also includes meals consumed in the Mensa café in the Aula. Secondly, the special offers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: on these days there is a 20 per cent discount on schnitzel (Monday), burgers (Wednesday) and fish dishes (Friday), with the frequency bonus for these dishes being waived at the same time.

- I am already a Mensa Club member:
It is necessary to present my AAU employee or student card at the canteen checkout in order to record the assignment as a university member in the existing account. In addition, I must carry my previously registered ATM card or my club card on my smartphone with me. The checkout staff will then assign me to the “University staff” or “University students” group in the Mensa checkout system. The special discount can be used immediately. - I am not yet a Mensa Club member:
First-time registration in the Mensa Club at the Mensa checkout by presenting/inserting the AAU employee or student card or ATM card is required. The checkout staff will then give me a registration receipt, which I can use to complete the registration either in the Mensa Club app on my smartphone or via the Mensa website at https://like.mensen.at/mocca.website/. The best time to register is during the canteen’s off-peak hours: 11 – 11.30 a.m. and 1.30 – 2.30 p.m. I can take advantage of the special discount for my next purchase (hot lunch or hot snack).
