Profiles of the participating mentors are presented on the website. This allows students to learn about the main points and opportunities in advance and to prepare themselves for the launch event.
Profiles of the participating mentors are presented on the website. This allows students to learn about the main points and opportunities in advance and to prepare themselves for the launch event.
The mentors introduce themselves and what they have to offer in a live event on the university campus. Participating students subsequently exchange information with them on the spot and demonstrate their interest and motivation in conversation. Alternatively, students can also sign up to the contact list of the selected mentors. Registration: karriere [at] aau [dot] at
The mentors select the most suitable candidate(s) from among the interested students and notify all students of the result. The first joint date (e.g. company day) is arranged.
The mentors propose various joint activities. After the first meeting, a joint decision is made as to whether the cooperation will continue.
The Career Service keeps in touch with the mentors and participating students in order to stay up to date and to support them with any unresolved questions.
The Career Service invites the job shadowing participants to the university summer party. This gathering may signal the end of the project, but it may also mark the beginning of a more far-reaching collaboration.
The Career Service hopes to share the individual job shadowing experiences with other students and mentors. To this end, a few questions will be prepared as an editorial article and posted online.
What is job shadowing?
Beginnings are often difficult. To ease your entry into professional life, our mentors will support you within the framework of the job shadowing project. They will welcome you into their everyday working life for a day and will also invite you to take part in other activities that will support you in your career planning. You will learn first-hand what it truly takes to be successful and you will be able to build valuable professional contacts.
By participating, you will gain a practical insight into the field of activity and the work of your host mentor, gather expert information, find out about career prospects and forge valuable contacts.
This will help you with your transition into a job and your professional orientation.
Who can participate in the project? And how?
Students from all fields of study – regardless of their academic progress – are encouraged to use the initiative for their career development.
Browse through the profiles of the participating mentors, register for the launch event and take advantage of the opportunity to talk to the mentors and maybe secure your job shadowing spot right away. TIP: Take your up-to-date CV with you.
Who can be a job shadowing mentor?
You can participate in the project if …
What is your benefit?
As a mentor in the job shadowing project, you offer our students individual insights into your professional responsibilities and company processes. This allows you to meet potential employees at an early stage and to showcase your company. You also support our students in their career development.
What do we do?
We post your profile online, organise the launch and come-together events, promote the events and the initiative to students and keep in touch with you during the project cycle to support you with any questions and finally to ask about your experiences.
