USI General Prevention Concept

Logo USI Klagenfurt
General Prevention Concept for the Implementation of USI Events (Courses, Camps and Championships) at the University Sports Institute Klagenfurt

(Status November 2021)

The University Sports Institute Klagenfurt as a service institution of the University of Klagenfurt will fulfill its legal duty of care for all universities at the location (§ 40 UG 2002) also during the present crisis situation as far as possible. For this purpose – based on the respective valid requirements of the government and authorities – the present concept is to be understood as a supplement to the General Terms and Conditions of the USI and thus has a binding character for all participants in USI sports. Basically, we point out that with every participation in the USI sports offer, the participants are responsible for complying with the legal regulations in the COVID context in the respective valid version.

A) General

  1. Any participation in the USI sports program is on the participant’s own responsibility, this also and especially applies to all persons belonging to a risk group.
  2. all participants are called upon and obligated to act responsibly and to always observe and participate in all measures that can minimize the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
  3. the registration for all USI courses is currently only ONLINE! A valid and regularly accessed e-mail address is mandatory!
  4. the number of participants per course will be adjusted according to the situation. Participation without registration (“taster”) is strictly prohibited.

B) Requirements for participation in the USI sports program, incl. free play (2- G rule!)

1. only those persons are allowed to enter the buildings of Klagenfurt University who have proof of a low epidemiological risk. This proof must be presented upon entering the buildings and kept ready for the duration of the stay. Entering is also considered as staying.

2. As of Wednesday, November 10, the 2G rule (twice vaccinated or recovered as defined by the 3rd COVID 19 Measures Ordinance, § 1 Para. 2 Z 2) applies in all buildings of Klagenfurt University and for all university employees. This is based on a rectorate decision of Tuesday, 9.11.2021. (https://www.aau.at/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Mitteilungsblatt-2020-2021-26.pdf)

In addition, the currently valid version of the COVID-19 Measures Ordinance of the Federal Government is valid. (https://www.ris.bka.gv.at/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&Gesetzesnummer=20002988&ShowPrintPreview=True )

C) Rules of conduct in all USI sports operations

o Enter practice/competition symptom-free.

o Adherence to general hygiene measures (when entering/leaving the building, athletes are asked to wash or sanitize their hands, not to put their hands in their face, cough or sneeze into the crook of their elbow or handkerchief).

o Mouth-nose protection (FFP2 mask): A mechanical protective device covering the mouth and nose area (FFP2 mask) must be worn continuously when entering/leaving and inside the building (exceptions: during sports practice, showers and in the open areas).

o Distance rule: minimum distance 2 meters

Indoor: when entering/leaving as well as inside the building (dressing rooms, showers and toilet facilities). Greetings/farewells by handshake or hug are to be refrained from. Physical contact may only occur in the context of specific sport practice.

o Bringing towels or own material (mats, etc.) is strongly recommended. In the case of multiple use of equipment, hands must be cleaned BEFORE use at the student’s own responsibility with the disinfectants provided.

The use of small equipment should be avoided if possible.

o Dressing rooms must be left promptly – if possible, participants should arrive already changed for the course and shower at home.

o Contact tracing in the weight room

Once the weight room ticket has been purchased, it can only be used via time slots that can be booked via the application used (Count Me In).

o Body contact sports: subject to the corresponding specific prevention concept of the professional association or other superior organizations. The rules applicable at USI are based on the respective guidelines shown on the homepage of the federal sports organization Sport Austria (https://www.sportaustria.at/de/schwerpunkte/mitgliederservice/informationen-zum-coronavirus/ ).

USI competitions are explicitly run as mass sport events and not as top sport events. The orientation is based on the respective valid measures, issued by the respective professional associations and shown on the homepage of the Federal Sport Organization Sport Austria

Depending on the type of sport, the number of participants and the respective valid regulations, a prevention concept will be worked out separately for each championship or a COVID-19 representative will be appointed. Events involving more than 11 people are reported (notified) to the AAU Rector’s Office and/or the Health Authority. Events with more than 51 persons are also subject to approval by the AAU Rectorate and/or the health authority.

D) Duties in the USI sports operation for course instructors

o Exclusion of Participants: USI course instructors are required to exclude participants who do not appear healthy (especially if they have symptoms such as fever, flu, or cough) from the event and ask them to leave the facility.

o Trainers of the USI have to point out the measures to the participants regularly and to supervise the compliance. In case of disregard of the rules, the person in question is to be expelled from the course.

o The course instructors undertake to ensure that only registered persons participate in the respective course (contact tracing). The lists of participants are available to the course instructors via the USI homepage.

E) Communication of the prevention concept

o The USI course instructors will be informed directly with the concept and in case of changes to the concept via e-mail.

o For questions regarding the prevention concept, the USI course instructors are the first point of contact for the participants on site.

o The prevention concept is prominently displayed on the USI homepage. In addition, participants will be informed about the protective measures via the existing channels of the USI (e-mail, Facebook) or by means of a notice board.

o The general terms and conditions will be expanded to include the general prevention concept.

o With the enrollment the valid general terms and conditions must be accepted, otherwise an enrollment is not possible.

F) Occurrence of a SARS-CoV-2 infection at USI Klagenfurt

o Notification at USI Klagenfurt via the mail address: usi [at] aau [dot] at.

o COVID-19 contact person at the University of Klagenfurt informs the local health authority.

o Further steps will be ordered by the local health authority.

o Testing and similar measures are carried out on the instructions of the health authority

o The USI supports the implementation of the measures

o Documentation by the COVID-19 contact person of the USI, which persons had contact with the affected person as well as type of contact, based on the presence lists. If necessary, the required data is passed on to the responsible health office.

o If a case of illness is confirmed, further measures (e.g. disinfection of the sports facility) are taken on the instructions of the health authority.
