Florian Huber completed an apprenticeship in electrical engineering and spent several years working as electronic engineer and calibration officer in the electronics industry. Today, he is a student in the Bachelor’s degree programme in Information and Communications Engineering, and additionally he works as teaching assistant and tutor. Melanie Schranz: A woman’s journey into the realm of technology and to her dream job

Our graduate Melanie Schranz couldn’t get enough of the exciting research topics at the Department of Networked and Embedded Systems. As one of the first eight students on the Information and Communications Engineering degree programme, she went straight on to pursue a doctorate after completing her diploma thesis. Together, we look back at an exciting past and talk about the latest research topics at Lakeside Labs.

Studying and working on campus at the University of Klagenfurt

After completing her Bachelor’s degree at Vienna University of Economics and Business, Melisa Midzan decided to pursue her Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Klagenfurt. She is now entering her third semester and is simultaneously completing a Bachelor’s degree in Information and Communications Engineering. She is using the Klagenfurt scholarship to forge valuable contacts with Carinthian companies.

Expanding the sensory skills of machines

Machines are already capable of many things. A certain set of sensors has already been fully developed. And yet, Harald Gietler, researcher at the Department of Smart Systems Technologies seeks to discover: “Who knows what kinds of sensors we will need in the future?” He is currently developing a new technology, which will allow machines to determine the location of other machines.
