The Info Days of the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) at the University of Klagenfurt/Celovec, the lobby group in university politics for all students at our university, will support you on 4 and 5 February 2026 before the start of the semester with advice on all aspects of studying.
After a period of five months, the University of Klagenfurt’s Outdoor Drone Space Austria (ODSA) at the Lakeside Science & Technology Park is close to completion. Alongside the drone hall, this will provide the drone researchers at Dronehub Klagenfurt with outdoor research infrastructure for developing and testing innovative drone technologies.
How can we control swarms of drones so that they can be used to reforest woodlands in the most efficient way? Merna Tohfa, a university assistant at the Department of Networked and Embedded Systems, is developing mathematical models and technologies that enable swarms of drones to scatter tree seeds in areas that may be difficult to access.
Through its Transfer.Science to Spin-off funding scheme, the Christian Doppler Research Association (CDG) is supporting ten research activities as they take their final steps from fundamental research towards application, with a total of EUR 6.8 million in funding. Among the funded initiatives is AIONIC, a project that aims to enable the fully autonomous inspection of critical infrastructure using drones or robotic systems. The AIONIC project team — Thomas Jantos, Martin Scheiber, and Eren Allak — is led by Professor Stephan Weiss, head of the Control of Networked Systems research group. The team is building on extensive preliminary work from prior research projects.
