„W&R- Kosovo: towards a resilient civil society?“

This talk will outline a future research project: Kosovo is a newly established state with an open future. While Kosovo has a vibrant civil society. A civil society is in need of pluralistic and democratic institutions. Compared to the standards in the Western Balkans Kosovo has a well anchored democratiy constitution. However, it is still under threat, both internally and externally. This gives rise to studying possible futures of civil society. The case of Kosovo is telling because as a new state and society, it allwos for studying the emergence of institutions and civil society „in the wild“.
Theoretically the research will rely on the theory of securizitation and desecurizitation for the investigation of civil society and the theory of discoursive institutionalism for the investigation of the development of public institutions. Methodologically, the research will further develop an approach of interpretive social simulation that enables the construction of narrative scenarios of possible futures for policy modelling.
