To help you build a solid foundation for your career in the long run, the English-language Master’s degree programme “Informatics” provides you with advanced skills in subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Business Information Systems, Data Science and Engineering, Distributed Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Information and System Security, Multimedia Systems and Software Engineering. During your studies you will master all the tools you need to manage problem-solving processes and develop innovations.

Building a broad theoretical foundation is essential in order for you to be able to keep your level of knowledge up to date rapidly and independently. Apply your expertise while you are still studying by completing a relevant project in the field amounting to 18 ECTS credits. And those looking to cross not only the university’s boundaries, but also those of the country, are encouraged to do so: We recommend spending at least one semester at one of our 250 partner universities.

They are distinguished by their high degree of independence and superior problem-solving skills. In particular, they are skilled at adapting to and mastering technical paradigm shifts. Furthermore, following three years of relevant professional activity and the successful completion of the Civil Engineer examination, graduates of the Master’s degree programme are entitled to work as chartered civil engineers in the field of Informatics.

Practical training

Over the course of the Master’s degree, students are encouraged to complete a suitable internship (project), in order to test, apply and expand the acquired expertise and knowledge in a practical setting. Additionally, it is recommended that students spend at least one semester abroad at a foreign institution or foreign university. In particular, students can avail themselves of the opportunity to complete the project abroad.

Admission to the Master’s Dregree Programme Informatics must occur within the admission periods.

Non-EU and non-EEA citizens: The application for admission to a Master’s degree programme must be received in its entirety by 30 June for admission for the winter semester or, respectively, by 30 November for admission for the summer semester.

You do not have to go through a special admission procedure to start the Master's degree programme in Informatics in Klagenfurt.

You only have to meet the following conditions, which also apply to all other programmes:

Bachelor’s degree programme in Applied Informatics or a degree programme of equivalent academic value at another post-secondary educational institution. Depending on your previous degree, you may need to take additional exams.
