The Bachelor’s programme in Information and Communications Engineering provides you with a solid technical education in the fields of information and communications technologies. You will acquire theoretical and practical expertise in physics, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, as well as communications and signal processing, and you will learn to develop and implement technical systems for the acquisition, transmission, processing, and analysis of information.
During your studies, you will explore topics such as measurement, control, and automation engineering; operating systems and computer networks; modelling, simulation, and analysis of network systems, as well as numerical methods and linear optimisation.
The programme is aimed at anyone who wants to not only use modern information and communication technologies, but actively develop and shape them. Graduates are well prepared for roles in product and technology development, as well as demanding technical specialist careers and entry into research and development. At the same time, the programme provides an excellent foundation for specialised Master’s programmes and a later career in research, development, innovation, and academia.
Bachelor’s combination programme in Information and Communications Engineering (120 ECTS credits + 60 ECTS credits)
The Bachelor’s programme in Information and Communications Engineering can also be completed as a Bachelor’s combination programme. In this option, you combine the major programme in Information and Communications Engineering (120 ECTS credits) with one minor (60 ECTS credits) or two minors (30 ECTS credits each), allowing you to shape your programme according to your personal interests and career goals.
The freely selectable minor programmes enable you to purposefully supplement your fundamental technical knowledge with expertise from other disciplines – such as business, law, languages, or other subject areas. This opens up diverse career prospects at the intersections of technology, management, and innovation. If you choose one of the eligible minors from the field of business and management, the designation ‘Industrial Engineer’ will be added to your Bachelor’s degree certificate.
The Bachelor’s combination programme is particularly suited to anyone who wishes to combine technical expertise with interdisciplinary skills and aims to qualify you for your role in technology management, or in interdisciplinary development and consultancy fields.

In both the Bachelor’s programme and the Bachelor’s combination programme in Information and Communications Engineering, the core topics are identical: both include 112 ECTS credits in required subjects, the introductory and orientation phase (STEOP) and the Bachelor’s thesis and seminar.
In the Bachelor’s programme, an additional 49 ECTS credits in further guided electives and 11 ECTS credits in open electives are included, allowing for stronger subject-specific specialisation in Information and Communications Engineering. In the Bachelor’s combination programme, these components are replaced by one or two minors totalling 60 ECTS credits, giving the programme a broader and more interdisciplinary orientation.
