How do citizens and health professionals cope with heat waves in caring situations?
The rising temperature influences health and care situations. Citizen scientists and health professionals are invited to share their experiences.
The objectives of the project aim at researching impacts of and adaptation to climate change with periods during summer, regarding care situations in Austria. Objectives are:
1.) To generate written narratives recording the influence of heat on care situations
2.) To identify critical incidents concerning heat in care situations
3.) To gain insights into how care givers (formal and informal) as well as chronically ill and/or elderly people perceive and adapt to climate change impacts, i.e. heat waves, in terms of coping strategies.
How to partecipate?
1.) Participation in narrative dialogue groups that offer an open communicative space to raise crucial issues out of their perspecitve on care and heat.
2.) Paricipation in the “Call for narratives”. Experiences can be written down and sent to the Collection of Biographical records.
3.) Participation within the analysis and interpretation of data either in workshops or via a moderated interactive web-dialogue over a certain period of time.
Citizens with care experieces, health professionals, interested students and the wider public can participate in this project.
What happens to contributions of citizen scientists?
The contributions will be saved. Participants decide wheter their contribution can be made public – and thus accessible to others – or not. Contributions can also be published under a different name (pseudonym). Selected contributions are evaluated and analysed in view of commonalities and differences. This way “typical stories” and structures become visible.
