„Literature and Emotional Literacy: Developing Emotional Literacy Skills by Reading and Analysing the Corpus of Bosnian and Herzegovinian Literature in Primary School Age“ examines the role of literature in developing children’s emotional literacy during the elementary school years. Drawing on examples from the corpus of Bosnian and Herzegovinian literature, the research explores how reading and analysing literary texts can nurture practical life skills that extend beyond the literary context.
The project proposes a structured model for reading literature aimed at fostering emotional literacy skills and tests it through experimental longitudinal research — workshops with fifth, seventh-, and ninth-grade students. This method integrates literary theory with psychological perspectives, offering a model of affective literary interpretation that approaches and analyses emotions within literary texts.
The study highlights the connection between literature and psychology, demonstrating the interdisciplinarity between these fields and how psychological concepts can be applied to literary analysis. Within the broader South Slavic literary context, it underscores literature’s functional role in acquiring concrete and transferable life skills.
